The Cause For A Cure

Regardless of what you think of his business ethos, it can hardly be said that Bill Gates isn’t doing good work now. Nearly two billion dollars has been granted to AIDS research and care organizations around the world over the last four years.

His latest gift via his foundation, $500 million over the next five years to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He continued soon after speaking at a major Toronto conference on AIDS about the need to rally for a cure, or at least a significant prevention on the scale of the polio vaccine.

Of course we don’t all have half a billion dollars lying around, but if you’re reading this you more than likely have a computer. And once again I’d like to ask / invite / beg / implore / admonish / bribe everyone here, whether you read this blog for encouragement or ammo, to contribute a little bit of computer time to the FightAIDS@Home project from the World Community Grid.

Readers:
1) Download and Install the Software. It’s available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
2) When you install it and run it, choose a username
3) Go to the World Community Grid login page and log in with the user name you chose.
4) The next screen should show you which projects you want to participate in. Check the ones you want your comptuer to work on. It only works on one project at a time.
5) Join the Gay Christians team. Click that link and click the “Join Team” button. Now all our work will be tabulated in one spot so we can see how much we’ve done together.
